Christmas Time Is Near.....

Winter  winds and temps  are in the  air  today.

By  Sunday  evening they are  calling  for  temps to  be in the  low  teens!

So upon  waking up  on this  chilly  day, I  thought  the  best way to  start of my  day was  with a  trip to my  favorite  Biggby  Coffee Shop and  indulge  myself  with a delicious  cafe  latte. But   my plans  quickly  changed.... once pulling up to  the  shop.  This  huge  poster  showcasing  a  Frozen Hot Chocolate  was   calling my name( wink).  So while   waiting  in   line  I  was   contemplating between ..  a nice  hot  cafe latte  which  would  work  well on this  cold  day or a  frozen  Hot  Chocolate.  I  was  thinking   "do I  really  need  something  Frozen  to  drink on today  of all  days...lol"?

April,  one of the  wonderful barasita's at Mo's  Biggby,  greeted  me  with a  warm  smile  and  asked me  what I   wanted today? Without  hesitation  I   blurted out .... Frozen Hot  Chocolate  please.  She  giggled  ....on this   cold  day? lol  I  told   her of course.. I   just  couldnt  resist.

I have to   say..... With one  sip of this glorious  drink .... I  was  on  cloud  nine.  Ahhh what   a   way to  start  my  day.

After this   gourmet  treat... Yes I know and   all the   calories too, lol. It  was  time to  run errands then  back to my  studio  to  work on   new  digis and  create   some Christmas  cards.

Upon arriving  at my   studio.... I   squealed in   glee at the   fact  that  my   very  first shipment of  Fran- tage  arrived. Just in the nick of time for  my Holiday  Card  making. Aged Marine, Shabby Green and Shabby  White   are the  embossing enamel   colors I  selected.   I so  cant  wait to  share with  you   my  lovely  creations  over  the next  couple of  days:)

Well.... I guess I better  get  back to  crafting in my   studio   while  listening to one of my   favorite holiday Dvd's  ...   Charlie Brown's  Christmas.

Oh before I  sign  off... for the  time being ... Today's   digi of the   day  is  none other  than
Coco's Sticky Wings ~ Santa's Hot  Chocolate!  Remember  all my  holiday Digi stamps  are on sale  for a limited time. So  hurry  and  get them  at a  reduced  price  before my  sale  ends.

Happy Holidays,
Heather

Sticky Wings

First I  would like to  say.... My heart goes out to everyone feeling the impact of yesterday's tornadoes in the  midwest.  Sending  prayers.

Today,  it's time  Frosti  Sprinkly  Sticky Wings  time.   My  adorable  Frosti Sticky Wings and   her  friends  are now available in my  shop, which now  offers instant  downloads  for  digi stamps.

Here is a  wonderful  dt  inspiration   from Nikki.

Created  in beautiful  pastel   colors... this is   a  very  delicate  and   delicious card.

Here is a  fabulous   decorating frosting  recipe, and one of  Frosti's  favorites. It's  perfect for the Holidays!  Enjoy.....

Christmas Tree Cupcakes....

First make  your  favorite flavored cupcakes.

Next it's   time  to  decorate  once your  cupcakes have cooled.

Cupcakes
Sugar Cones
White Candy Melts
White Sugar crystals
Frosting
Pink Sugar crystals
Candy Canes
Fondant
Icing colors (I used Wilton Dusty Rose & )
Snowflake Sprinkles
Confetti Sprinkles
  • Cut off ends of the sugar cones, so the tree section is around 3 inches long. Use a serrated knife to carefully saw through without shattering the cone.
  • Dip cone sections in melted white candy coating. If you use a tall plastic cup, it will be easier to coat the entire cone.
  • Remove and let excess coating fall off.
  • Sprinkle white sugar crystals or sanding sugar over entire surface of the cone. Sprinkle over a large bowl and you can reuse the sprinkles.
  • Set on wax paper to dry completely. When dry, you can redip the bottoms to make sure the cone is completely coated.
  • Use 6 inch long candy canes and break the handles off so you are left with a straight piece that’s around 5 inches.
  • Cover cupcakes with tinted pink frosting.
  • Fill a small dish with the pink sugar crystals or sanding sugar and press cupcake tops into the dish until the entire surface is covered with sugar cyrstals.
  • Dip one end of the candy cane in some of the melted candy coating and insert the other end straight into the cupcake.
  • Place a Christmas Tree on top of the candy cane and let the candy coating dry and work like a glue.
  • If you want decorations, it would be a good idea to add them before you attach the tree. Just dot a small amount of coating on the surface and attach a colored sprinkle.
  • For presents, tint white fondant and shape the fondant into small squares by hand. Then use some of the white fondant, roll it out and use a knife to cut thin strips for ribbon. Attach the white fondant ribbon to the presents with a small dab of water. Then attach the snowflake sprinkles the same way.
  • Remember, use dense cupcakes instead of light and fluffy ones so the trees will not want to tip.
  • Or skip the candy canes, use the entire sugar cone and make big trees. Then you won’t have to worry.
Happy  Holidays.... Until next  time,
Heather

Sticky Wings ~ Karmi Kornpop

It's all about Karmi Kornpop!

This lil cutie  is a perfect   addition to  my   Sticky  Wings Collection... after all  anyone  who  has  made   caramel corn  balls   knows what  a  sticky   project that  is.  Delicious  though   but  extremely  sticky.

Today  I am  showcasing  the  wonderful  design team member's   inspirations featuring  Karmi.

First is  Julie's. A   very   dainty and  elegant  card.

and  next  is  Roberta's, who  is  our  guest  designer's inspiration.... created in a  very   regal  color  scheme.

Once  again, its   quite interesting to   see the  two totally  different  interpretations of the  same digi stamp.  Both  are  so beautiful.

Now  Karmi  would like to  share with you  one of  her   favorite  Kornball  recipes.... perfect  for your  holiday parties.

Christmas  Cornballs

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon extract
  • Green and red food coloring
  • 12 cups popped popcorn

Preparation:

1. Prepare a cookie sheet by covering it with aluminum foil and spraying it with nonstick cooking spray. Place the popcorn in a large heatproof bowl sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Combine the sugar, water, and corn syrup in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and stir to dissolve sugar. Insert a candy thermometer.
3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the temperature reaches 240 degrees.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the extract and food coloring of your choice.
5. Pour the syrup over the popcorn and stir to thoroughly coat all popcorn.
6. Allow the popcorn to sit and cool for about 5 minutes. You want the popcorn to be cool enough to handle, but still warm enough to easily shape. Spray your hands with nonstick cooking spray, and working carefully, scoop a handful of popcorn and press into a ball. Press firmly so that the popcorn ball holds its shape.
7. Place the popcorn balls on the prepared baking sheet to cool and set completely.
Tip: I recommend making only one color of popcorn ball at a time. If you try to divide the syrup into two bowls to color it after heating it, the syrup cools quickly and will mostly likely be unworkable by the time you’re ready to pour and mold the second color. Instead, make two half batches of sugar syrup and do one color at a time, or double the amount of popcorn and make two regular batches of sugar syrup.

Hope you  are   enjoying  are  sticky wings  and their  favorite  recipes.   If you have a   favorite  holiday  recipe   you  would like to   share with us....   feel free  to comment   or  email  me  heather@purimagination.com    and I  will be  sure to  share it  here on  our  Lacy Sunshine Blog.

Have a wonderful crafty day!
Until next time~

Lil Peanut and More

Today   Lacy Sunshine showcases... "Lil Peanut" Brittle  Sticky  Wings.

There is  something   so  irresistible  about  peanut  brittle.   Both, my  digi and  the  candy.  She is one of my   new  favorites and  well  not a  Christmas   goes by   without  making batches of  brittle.

Here  are the  wonderful different  and unique  design  team  members inspirations which   showcase  this lil nut (wink).

First  is Sammibug's

And  next we  have Aletha's.

It's  interesting  to  see  the   same image  used  yet   two  totally  different   works of  art.  Both  are  amazing.

So Lil Peanut and  myself would love to  share with  you  our  Peanut  Brittle   Recipe....

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2
teaspoons baking soda
1
teaspoon water
1
teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2
cups sugar
1
cup water
1
cup light corn syrup
3
tablespoons butter or margarine
1
pound shelled unroasted peanuts

DIRECTIONS
  1. Grease a large cookie sheet. Set aside.
  2. In a heavy 2 quart saucepan, over medium heat, bring to a boil sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanuts. Set candy thermometer in place, and continue cooking. Stir frequently until temperature reaches 300 degrees F (150 degrees C), or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.
  3. Remove from heat; immediately stir in butter and baking soda; pour at once onto cookie sheet. With 2 forks, lift and pull peanut mixture into rectangle about 14x12 inches; cool. Snap candy into pieces. And  Enjoy!

Stella Stained Glass Cookies Sticky Wings

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone  had a terrific  weekend.

Today, I  like to  showcase  Stella "Stained Glass Cookies"  Sticky Wings.  She is a  new limited  edition digi stamp and will  only  be   available in my  shop thru Christmas.  So  please  make  sure  you  get  her   before  she   flutters  away.

Here is a  striking  card that  Manderly, my   design team coordinator and  assistant  created which  features  this  adorable  digi of mine.   Manderly colored  this image  using her  favorite medium.. colored pencils.

Now  as promised yesterday for the  next  two  weeks  we will have a  blog post  dedicated  to   a  Sticky  Wing  ...along with their favorite holiday dessert  recipe( wink).

Stella's   is none other than  Stained Glass Cookies,  which  are  truly  fun to  make.  Here is the  recipe....

Ingredients

About 15 brightly colored hard candies (ring-shaped, rectangular or round)
1
cup butter or margarine, softened
2/3
cup sugar
1/2
cup light corn syrup
2
teaspoons vanilla
1/4
teaspoon lemon extract, if desired
3
cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
3/4
teaspoon baking powder
1/2
teaspoon salt

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Place each color candy in separate resealable freezer plastic bag; seal bag. With rolling pin, coarsely crush candy; set aside.
  • 2 In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in corn syrup, vanilla and lemon extract. On low speed, gradually beat in flour, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 Divide dough in half. On floured cloth-covered work surface, roll each half to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut dough with 3-inch Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter. Cut out and remove several smaller dough shapes from each cookie. Place tree shapes 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. If desired, reroll small cutouts with remaining dough. Fill each hole in tree shapes with about 1/2 teaspoon crushed candy.
  • 4 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown and candy is melted. Place cookie sheets on cooling racks; cool cookies 8 minutes. With back of metal pancake turner, gently lift warm cookies from foil; place on cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes, before storing in loosely covered containers.
Do you have a  favorite  Holiday   dessert  recipe  you  would like to   share.?.. Please  feel  free to  post in the   comments   section here.

Introducing Winter Angel Food Sticky Wings.
Kerry, one of my  wonderful Sunshine  Girls Design Team Member created  with Angel... and  used an  amazing  technique...No Line  Coloring.

A  FUN Tip  from  Kerry...

"I did it by taking the image into a graphics program, nothing special just an everyday program. I then sized the image and adjusted the transparency of the lines down to 10% which resulted in a very faint image, I then printed it off and coloured her in......simples, it took a few attempts to get the lines faint enough not to be seen once coloured but I also needed to be able to see them to see where I was colouring"

Now here is  one of  Angel Sticky Wings   favorite  Angel Food Cake Recipes.....  Enjoy  this  Holiday  Treat...

Christmas  Angel Food Surprise
